When the State of Alabama couldn't pay the income tax rebates due to Alabama tax payers, and speed limit was suddenly lowered to 55 MPH on a stretch of Interstate that was just as safe to trave at 70 MPH. Interestingly, the speed trap is on the Georgia - Alabama border.

Intersection of McIntosh Road and Friendship Road   Oxford, Alabama

The road is incredibly straight with no Visual obstructions. There is a caution light due to idiots who attempt to beat the main traffic on McIntosh. The road is more than safe at 55 MPH; however, the limit drops from 55 MPH to 45 MPH and then to 35 MPH in less than 50 yards. There are usually Police Cars in this area.
