Interstate 5 near California-Oregon Border Yreka, California

The local Highway patrol office located in Yreka apparently needs lots of money to keep it open and the I5 stretch is a great source of income for them; both on the down hill entering Yreka from Oregon and on the stretch by the Weed Airport. I have received numerous tickets in this area. One was written for going 101 miles an hours. I think the officer never thought that someone from SF would come to his town to contest it. I did and the judge dropped it to "going over the speed limit". He did not reduce the extra fine however --instead opted to ok me for traffic school.

Interstate 5 Yreka, California

When traveling northbound or southbound on I-5 one must be very careful of Yreka; Yreka is a small town, but has a completely disproportionate number of CHP to citizens. It is almost impossible to pass through Yreka without getting strong Ka radar alerts. I got a ticket for 75 in a 65 and was pulled over by three CHP officers. Observe the speed limit through Yreka; it is one of the deadliest speed traps in Northern California.

This is a very active area for CHP units along I5 through Yreka,CA - Always drive the limit through this area!
