Breckenridge, Colorado Speed Traps

This is an early morning one. PD sits back in the cemetery drive waiting for stop sign runners on Airport. Have seen them there twice now in the last month.

PD sits in Luisa Dr. on the east side of main waiting for speeders. After passing the light at Main and French, PD sits back in Luisa. The speed limit is still 20mph in the section of road between French and the round-about. This one is bad because the southbound speed on this section of road is 25, while the northbound is 20.

Silverthorne: Dillon Valley. Little Beaver Trail westbound: almost a mile perfectly straight road, no intersections. NO speed limit sign posted and they steadfastly refuse to put a sign up. your brain says this is 35, 40 or 45, but it is only 30! and they will ticket your for almost anything over. Got a ticket. showed pictures of no signs, even my lawyer said “pay”.

Dillon: US 6 connects Dillon to Silverthorne and Keystone. 35, 40, 50, 55 mph out and the reverse coming back, strictly enforced by much too big P.D.
( they even ticket bicyclists for stop signs! )
All of Summit County has huge police forces, justified only by annual holiday ski mobs, but they do not reduce the forces the rest of the year, and the recession has made them the major gap tax collectors.

The limit here drops incredibly fast from 50 to 35 to 20. Police are waiting right where the limit drops to 20. There are only two 20 mph signs as far as I saw, one on each side of town. Police recognize rental cars and are very aware of how it affects your license. No stop signs, no reduce speed signs, no flashing indicators and Police give you no chance to discuss just ask for your license and then hand you a citation. Defiently a trap. Hope to save you from this garbage.

Watch the stop signs at this intersection. They sit at the church and alongside the road.
