Dinwiddie, Virginia Speed Traps

The cops sit just behind a grass covered mound of dirt at the Route 1 South Exit off of Interstate 85 South they are there almost every day especially during morning rush hour traffic. They also nab people traveling north however this is much less common since they can be seen at a greater distance.

Speed limit slows from 70 to 60 within a 1 mile radius (From exit 61 to exit 63) . Sheriff allegedly clocked me doing 71 in a 60 but I know that he did not have his radar on because i had a radar detector and I am a former police officer and I am familiar with the area. The sheriff was actually in the road obstructing traffic and assumed i was speeding because I was going 15mph faster than the tractor trailer beside me which had to slow down to avoid hitting him. Dinwiddie’s only source of income is from generating tickets. There is nothing in the town but a beautiful courthouse. Be very cautious driving in this area especially if you have out of state plates. Even the brotherly courtesy of being in law enforcement is not extended in this area. This area is a ticket mill and should be placed under investigation for illegal ticketing practices.

Speed limit is 70. Troopers sit in median hidden by trees. We were doing 80 going with the flow of other cars. I believe he profiled my Marland tags. And further more i had heard rumors they love to write outta state police officers tickets. Even with my FOP tags and Big city police ID visible, Seemed like he could not get back to my car fast enough with the ticket. And by the way where i work i dont have time to write traffic tickets to busy doing real police work !

They like to sit in the grassy median in the middle of 460, in between Courthouse Road and Tranqility. They also sit at the end of Tranquility.
