10 miles of Route 4 between Schuylerville and Stillwater

Schuylerville, New YorkAug 06, 20210 Comments

The entire length of route 4 from Stillwater to Schuylerville is heavily patrolled by New York State Police, Saratoga County Sheriff, Stillwater PD and the Federal Park Police. It is common to see 2 or more different speed traps on this length of road. There are several pull offs along the Hudson River and at the entrances to the national park that allow for good hiding spots.

The road is straight and flat, and has been resurfaced so it is very easy to exceed the 55 MPH speed limit, which is why it’s a perfect hunting ground for speeders. The police use mostly K and Ka band radar, but state police will occasionally use laser.

Route 4 is heavily patrolled from Troy up to the Vermont border, but this stretch rivals the area between Fort Anne and Whitehall as the worst speed trap in the area.
