Dont know where they hide, but they always pull over here for not only speeding, but running a yellow (happened to me) and talking on the phone (guilty again).

Simsbury Road near Fruit stand, 178/Loeffler Road

When one is traveling on 185 over Simsbury Mountain towards Bloomfield (Hartford road, turns into Simsbury Road when you enter Bloomfield about half-way over the mountain) be mindful of a speed trap at the bottom of the mountain in Bloomfield.

The trap is on Schuyler Road, which is a neighborhood, and the officer will get your speed then walk into the road to flag you down into the neighborhood. A fruit stand is right across the street, and since this part of the road is at the bottom of a long downhill, it’s easy to get a ticket.

Filey Street near Sylvan Way

Bloomfield, ConnecticutMar 12, 20070 Comments

Squad car hides on Sylvan way targeting cars on Filey. Filey is a 25 mph zone. Officer hides behind bushes with radar gun. Officer then proceeds to manually tell you to pull over. Sylvan way is pretty much an apt. complex entrance. God bless the service people, But this is a big time Trap! Look out!

State Route 218 near Interstate 291

Bloomfield, ConnecticutJun 20, 20050 Comments

Bloomfield PD frequently runs a trap on Rt. 218 (Cottage Grove Rd.) about a half mile west of the I-291/I-91 interchange. This is a tricky one because there are often multiple officers, all running the same band of radar, several hundred yards apart. Once you pass the first car don’t assume that you are out of the trap!
