6 Miles south of O’Neill on highway 281

O’Neil, NebraskaMar 28, 20101 Comments

I was heading to Sturgis in 2008 and i was stopped by the NEBRASKA HIGHWAY
PATROL FOR SPEEDING. According to my gps i was going 58 in a 60 mph zone.
I also had my cruise on. I was approached by two state troopers, one went on
one side of me, and one went on the other side of me. They both had there
hands on there guns. I gave the troppers my information. One went back to
his patrol car and the other one wanted me to take off my helmet. I asked why
and he stated that he wanted to check my helmet to make sure that it was
approved by the state of NEBRASKA. He checked my helmet to make sure that it
was DOT approved. They also checked to make sure that i had 1.5 inches of
foam in my helmet. After my helmet passed there inspection i was issued a
warning citation for speeding. I then asked the troopers if i could look at there
radar unit target speed which is located on the radar box. They said no. I told
them that I thought this was a BS stop. I then told them that I was a retired
POLICE OFFICER from OKLAHOMA and that there was no PC to make this traffic
stop. they then got back into there squad, had a nice laugh and then turned
around and went south on 281. Food for thought, if you are on a bike and you
have long hair and a beard don’t go by O’Neill Nebraska.
