Town woods Road

Old Lyme, ConnecticutAug 04, 20090 Comments

Town Woods Road on the south end has a mile long stretch of virtually straight road with little traffic and good view. Speed limit is the same as on the north end – 30 mph – (which is frankly too fast for safe traffic at that end), and this is way under a reasonable and safe speed limit for the conditions on the long stretch. Cops use this as a reliable source of tickets, often on the northern third of the stretch.

Town Woods Road near State Route Rt. 1

The cop parks in the driveway of High Hopes, aiming his radar toward people coming from Lyme. You can see him from far enough away if you’re coming from Laysville, but not from Lyme. It’s a nice straight stretch there, and I think it should be higher than a 30 MPH limit.
They will also park on Town Woods just to the south of Rogers Lake Trail, so if you’re coming from Laysville and you don’t come to a complete stop there at Rogers Lake Trail, he’ll pull out and get you!

State Route 156 near McCurdy Road

Town Police sit on the south side of Route 156 after the bridge over the Duck River. They are there pretty much every day at some point. At night they sit further down on the North side shoulder. As you head down towards Sound View, they also set up at the Lawnmower shop after the Black Hall River Bridge.

The Old Lyme police sit in a little Patch of sand near the gas station and across the street from the supermarket. They have nothing better to do.

Town Woods Road near Rogers Lake Trail

The Law is on Town Woods Road just West of Rogers Lake Trail. Long straight away with only two houses on it and no pedestrians. Just out to strum up some revenue for the town. Stopped me for 6 mph over speed limit of 30 mph. Were as on Rogers Lake Trail there is no speed enforcement and plenty of speeders. There is also plenty of houses and plenty of children on this road. Can’t seem to get a cop to come down to enforce the speed limit on Rogers Lake Trail. Kind of rediculous if you ask me.
