Felton, Delaware Speed Traps

At the intersection of US Route 13 and Delaware Route 12, there are center crossovers. The Felton Town Police will sit in them as if they are getting ready to make a turn. Speed limit in 45 and that’s what they expect.

Also, going south: they sometimes park next to the ball fields. You don’t really notice them until it’s too late.
And, when heading north: there is a slight bend to the right on Rt. 13, before the traffic light. They will set on the shoulder. One patrolman has a SUV. He will sit on the rear bumper, radar gun in hand, and just wave you over.

Should you go in the Town of Felton, 26 MPH is over the speed limit and they will pull you over.

Pulled over by officer in an unmarked SUV looking like he was about to make a U-turn in the median. Was admittedly going 66, but believed I was keeping up with the flow of traffic. Told me I was going 66 in a 55, gave me a ticket for going 66 in a 45. I was an out-of-state driver headed to OBX. The previous 2 times I’ve been pulled over in NJ, cop will see I’ve never received a ticket and will take mercy on me and let me off with a warning. This cop did not. Told me I was getting a ticket at the get-go. I guess DE has to make their money somehow.

Limit changes from 50 to 35 to 25. Officer sits on Evans and stops anyone not already doing 25 when they get to the sign.

They sit on both sides of the highway north and south be careful as speeds drop from 50 to 45 to 35 quickly and is purposely done that way. On the south side coming into town they sit at the school yard and sometimes at the opening of the new development being built. On the north side they sit right before the route 12 intersection at the construction company parking lot and sometimes just passed the intersection on a little drive way Also be careful as they use personal vehicles a lot instead of marked cruisers.

Speed limit goes from 55 to 45 all through town. The speed reduction is not harsh or unrealistic, but they are sneaky. They use unassuming unmarked cars that might make some people think twice about stopping.It seems that they also target out of state tags. This is a popular route to the DE. shores in the summer. This is not a town, it is a speedtrap.
