Loxley, Alabama Speed Traps
Loxley, AL
As someone described before, the speed there drops several times. We were stopped for nothing and got two tickets one for speed 55 in 35 miles zone and one for stopping on the highway because the police officer pulled us over. He instructed us to pull into side street through his speaker and we did. It was ludicrous. Its definitely a speed trap and the fines are $200 and up for ticket. We ended up fighting it, but it cost us $550 instead of $400. The tickets were removed but they docked us with the court cost. Screw Loxley, never going through there again and wont recommend anyone else.
HWY 59
Four lane hwy drops from 55 to 35 several times in loxley. Cops sit there and write tickets all day and night. I watched three poeple get pulled over as I was waiting for my ticket. I am sure they were out of towners like me vacationing in the Gulf. It will cost me more to go fight it then to just pay it. I will never stop in loxley or purchase anything there. I go to the gulf every year. Watch out, they want that tourist money!
State Highway 59 near Interstate 10
Clocked at 57 mph although speedo indicated 55 mph. This is well known speed trap in this area, and is patrolled very heavily. It is definitely a money making operation!
