Brooksville, Florida Speed Traps
Sunshine Grove Rd near Sun Rd Central High School
Particularly heading Southbound from Hexam Rd. the speed limit is 50mph first a sign marked truck crossing with yellow lights. Later a worn yellow and black speed limit sign 35mph “When lights are flashing” just like the truck sign. When the sun is midday in Fall it is right in your eyes. You will not see the speed yellow sign but you will see a State Trooper parked well ahead in the median. Even if you slow down looking for a white speed limit sign that isn’t there you will get a ticket for over 35mph. The fines are doubled in a school zone even tho the school isn’t visable from the high speed road. It will cost you $300 and 3 points on your license.
The city of Brooksville
The city of Brooksville has a lot of red light cameras and looking to take you $158.00 every time they get a chance be carefull.
SR 50 @ I-75
Speed limit drops from 60 to 45, FHP hangs out right after the forest going west
Yontz Road
This entire road connecting US 98 and Howell Avenue is constantly being monitored by the Highway Patrol. Speed limit is 40 mph and I have witnessed cars being pulled over with the Highway Patrol vehicle in front of speeding car using rear radar. Be careful and use cruise control on this 1mile stretch of roadway. Highway Patrol station is nearby so their cruisers are always using Yontz Road.
Broad Street from Mount Fair to Intersection with Howell Ave
Troopers, HCSO, and City PD all love to sit in this area. Primarily on party nights, but there usually one or more sitting there.
