The speed limit drops from 65 to 55 to 45 in a matter of a mile so if you cancel cruise, you will never coast to the speed limit. I was ticketed for coasting into the 55mph zone after cancelling my cruise control way in advance of the sign. I even saw the FHP vehicle and did not think that he would pull me over for a few mph over right at the sign. He then told me that I was going 70 mph, which was not possible since my cruise was set on 65. I told him this and he came back with a ticket showing 64 mph. He had to laser tag me before I got to the 55 mph sign. As soon as I pulled away, he had already pulled over another vehicle before I was out of view. This is clearly a speed trap. Proceed with caution and make sure you use your brakes!!!

Florida State Troopers mainly patrol this area. They tend to sit 2 at a time on a side road or one will sit there (clocking) and one further down (stopping). I have seen then actually stand in the middle of US 231 and point people over.

They are usually on a side dirt road or one officer is standing near a local business with a hand radar the officer then uses a radio to alert several other officers sitting off a side road waiting for you to pass. This is both a hot spot for the County, and the State patrol.

FHP will ticket you on this stretch of US231 approx 1.5 miles North of State Road 20, speed limit drops from 65 to 55 to 45 in less than a half mile, enforcement especially heavy during Spring Break and Summer vacation, beware, I live here and I have personally witnessned it over many years.
