Homosassa, Florida Speed Traps
On Michigan from Stonebrook to Homosassa Trail
It drops there from 30 to 25 for no apparent reason. Radar sets there quite often.
U.S. Hwy. 19 South from Crystal River into Homosassa
Driving south on US 19 from Crystal River and just past the car dealerships on the left, when you come into Homosassa the speed limit drops within several hundred feet from 55 to 45 mph.
Citrus County Sheriffs routinely set up speed traps on the right, just after the first 45mph speed limit sign. A radar car sits in one of the stores on the left and radios two or three pursuit cars that wait a quarter of a mile further down the road. The pursuit cars sit on the right (west) near the McDonalds or on the entrance road to WalMart and wait for the speeders to approach.
This area is especially popular during peak traffic hours on weekday mornings and on weekends.
State Highway 98
Hwy 98 from the Sun coast Parkway, west to US 19. They are always hiding in the Subdivision entrances.
State Highway 19
Along Hwy #19 there are a lot of stores, restuarants, hotels, etc. tourist areas so you are looking at all of this and the speed goes from 45 to 60 up and down. Since highway construction is going on there aren’t many speed signs. Patroled by sheriff’s dept, Crystal River Police Dept and the state police!
US Highway 19/98 East near Intersection of 19/98
Traveling east after leaving US 19, they sit on the wetbound side shooting radar over a rise in the road about 1 mile from the intersection. Speed limit is 55-60..but everyone starts cranking because the road is new, wide and not much traffic. I see it daily.
