On Rt. 6 as you approach Mt. Jewett from the East

Mount Jewett, PennsylvaniaFeb 26, 20110 Comments

As you approach Mt. Jewett from the east side of town (from the direction of Smethport, PA) the town has changed the speed limit from 45 mph, which has been the speed limit for decades, to 25 mph. The new speed limit starts just after you get to the top of a winding and steep hill. The police sit in the driveway of a local church where they can see a long way down the road, wait for you to get to the top of the hill, and then laser gun you the second you hit the new speed zone. A local resident told me that since they changed the speed limit last year the Mr. Jewett police department has been ticketing people “like crazy”
