South of actual city limits   Youngstown, Florida

Others here have already denoted the citations given for exceeding the posted limits INSIDE the city limits. This is for the area of 231 SOUTH of Youngstown. Occasionally, but DEFINITELY during prime vacation periods (4th of July/etc.) the F.H.P. runs an airplane clocking vehicles via the WHITE LINES that bisect both lanes....generally, one will see THREE lines per "set", since they may use the distance from the second line to the third line to "verify" your speed. At any rate, approx. 2 miles or so down the road, you will see 3-5 Trooper cars on the side of the road, with an officer out in the middle of 231, picking out the "dangerous criminals" and signaling them to pull over for their complimentary $160+ SPEEDING TICKETS!!! Beware!

County Trunk 2301 near State Highway 231   Youngstown, Florida

3/25 and 27

Motorcycle officers and squad cars for FHP and Sheriff becoming more prevalent. Watch at the Bayou George Grocery and Garners. They also hide at the Baptist Church parking lot to get people coming off 231. Make sure you blink your lights.

US Highway 231 near Interstate 20   Youngstown, Florida

School zone. No pre-warning. Police in hidden in median before zone watching for out of state tags. This is the main route into Panama City Fl. Ticket was given to my wife at 1:45 PM, well before school let out. The school was not visible from the school zone. The speed limit was 20 MPH on a four lane hwy. My wife was in the flow of traffic and doing a reported 39 MPH. He was behind her with his lights flashing as she went by the sign. She was slowing down because she saw the school zone sign. There was no pre warning of a school zone. She was clocked immediately as, or even before she went by the sign. She was cited for 15 MPH above the speed limit. She was behind another car in traffic. The town has a large police force, doubtlessly financed by this enterprise. The officer was rude and admitted that they had a full time officer at this school zone because they had so many violations. If they want to protect students, they should have better signage. this has greatly upset my wife and ruined her vacation. I think we will skip Panama City in any future vacation plans.
