State Highway 316 near State Highway 78   Bogart, Georgia

The 65 MPH speed limit goes for 35 miles on 316 out of Atlanta until you get to Oconee County where the speed drops to 55 just before you get to the Athens Perimeter Highway (10). An Oconee County Sheriff's vehicle is poised to catch those who fail to notice the sudden drop. He parks in the same spot next to a guard rail then pounces daily on the driver. Although this is not an illegal spot, it is a great revenue generator for Oconee County as thousands of dollars in fines are accumulated daily. It especially gets the travelers coming from Atlanta to the University of Georgia sporting events. I consider any "permanent" positioning of law enforcement in the same spot almost every day a speed trap. This enforcement does not save lives, there are not schools around, nothing but a lame excuse to ticket unsuspecting travelers.

Two Oconee County Sheriff Deputies were sitting in abandoned parking lot at corner of Burson street and U.S.29 and pulled out into traffic at a high rate of speed and sqeeling tires, almost causing an accident just to stop someone.

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
