Wayne Madison Rd., north of SR 73

Speed limit is 35mph here. Police will sit off the side of the road, even though there is a minimum of shoulder width, often in the dark with their parking lights off. (Would this constitute a safety hazard in itself?) I have been caught once here before (7 mph over limit) about three years ago, and have continued to check out what happens here since I work in the area. I constantly see cars pulled over by police. I use cruise control religiously on this stretch.

Woodsdale Road/South First Street

Trenton, OhioJul 13, 20110 Comments

Just before Woodsdale Road becomes South First Street, there’s a poorly lit area where the road widens. The speed limit on that part of Woodsdale Road is 45 mph, but it goes down to 35 mph further up. There’s no sign warning drivers to slow down. Trenton police, who now have dark, gunmetal gray cars with dark blue and dark gold markings (making them really hard to see), love to sit in this one area at night facing south down Woodsdale and nab "speeders". I was in mayor’s court on another case about a year ago (one of the rare non-speeding cases on the docket) and at least half the 13 or so speeding cases heard that night involved stops on South First. Nah… nothing suspicious going on here. Over the years, I’ve flashed my lights at many a car to warn them.
