Hwy 5 at Dog River Bridge   Douglasville, Georgia

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office will often sit on this bridge running radar, usually in attempts to catch northbound traffic (limit 55 mph). A few contributing factors: the area is wooded, roadway is merging from four to two lanes, the approach is around a bend and downhill. Depending upon where they sit, the stop is often illegal (as they are required to be in clear view within 500 ft and the actual distance is approx 350 to 400 feet- I measured from the curve), but good luck proving it.

Sweetwater Church Road.   Douglasville, Georgia

Operated by Paulding County Sheriff's Dept. Brownsville Road changes to Sweetwater Church Rd, when crossing Hwy 92, going west. The speed limit drops from 45 to an unrealistically low 40. (It's easily a safe road at 45+.) They use radar and can even tag you approaching from the opposite direction. Last one I saw was sitting in Sweetwater Church parking lot. To be fair, the deputy who tagged me was quite decent, which I really appreciated.

anywhere on I-20 westbound in Douglas County   Douglasville, Georgia

Keep in mind that speed is not the only reason for which people are stopped. Oh yes, the area is highly patrolled. However, while you are trying to avoid the "traps", think about the DUI driver you might see pulled over, or the semi with a load of guns, drugs or money (from the sale of peviously mentioned) or the armed robbery or burglary suspect in a lookout vehicle( robbers and burglars don't drive conestogas on I-20). I-20 w/b is clearly marked at 65 mph until almost Post Rd(exit 30) and then goes to 70 mph, again it's clearly marked. Drive Safely.

Be careful along this stretch of road; it is regularly patrolled, and officers watch from various locations.

Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
