109 East of Greenville   Greenville, Georgia

Just as you leave the courthouse square in Greenville on East 109 the speed limit if 25 miles and hour. It quickly changes to 35 miles and hour. At the 35 mile and hour zone you are coming down a steep hill. The cop sits there and runs radar on you as you come down the hill. At the bottom of the hill the speed limit changes to 55 miles an hour. When he stopped my husband the 55 mile an hour sign was only a few feet away and he said he was going 54 miles and hour in a 35 mile an hour zone. This is dirty and should be unlawful. Beware, as I am sure he is stopping everyone coming down the hill. Unless you ride your brakes you will always be going over the speed limit in this zone.

West bound on Hwy 109 just past the railroad overpass   Greenville, Georgia

Just west of the courthouse, no more than a 1/2 mile, on the out bound side, the speed limit is 35MPH. No more than about 50 yards apart, on the inbound lanes the speed limit is 25MPH. Be careful

State Route 109   Greenville, Georgia

Traveling on Highway 109 east of the Courthouse Circle, the road is a fairly steep downhill grade. The speed limit is 25MPH at the top, and 35MPH at the bottom. Any time of day enforcement is busy ticketing those who don't ride their brakes downhill.

US Alt 27 from GA 362 into town   Greenville, Georgia

This area has long been known by area residents as a speedtrap and is ideally suited for it with numerous excessively restrictive and constantly decreasing speed limit signs posted far out of town on a straight downhill stretch of road. Any driver who is not totally paranoid about his speed will always be 5-10 mph over the limit. This speedtrap now appears to have possibly turned into a bait, setup and frame operation which targets lone drivers without passengers who might be able to corroborate the drivers word against that of multiple police units who converge on the one driver. Recently my mom was stopped in just such a way when she had not even had sufficient time after turning onto Alt 27 to do anything wrong. Two police cars boxed her in followed by three more cars flying past with lights flashing. This kind of intimidation leads one to believe that the police might have been trying to invoke nervousness to be used as cause for further inquiry or search. The outcome might have been very different if it had not been for a cousin following behind who stopped and proceeded to give the police the nth degree for stopping my mom with no good reason at all. On seeing that they could not get away with any misdeeds, the police backed off immediately and told all to be on their way. The police of this very rural town evidently lack anything better to do.
