Highway feels like it really should be at least 65 mph (few traffic lights, big grassy divide etc) You are heading downhill (speed likely to climb) Jasper Local Police at bottom of hill on right with LASER. Major source of revenue for City… Be careful

W. Church Street by the cemetery/middle school

The 45 mph speed limit suddenly changes without notice to 30 mph as you get closer to the downtown area (heading east on church street). At night, the Jasper PD sits in dark cars in the cemetery and the parking lot of the Methodist Church and will pull you over for nay small infraction–even driving too slow!

From State Rt. 372 North to Antioch Church Rd. (Talking Rock)

This is a very major and deliberate speed trap. Jasper is vicious with enforcement with high fines and extremely high enforcement. They will pull you over for everything, and police harassment is common. Jasper has annexed all the way from Racetrac south of SR 108 to the Talking Rock connector solely for the purpose of a speed trap. From Philadelphia Rd south to Fairview, the road is deliberately dropped to 55. This is also a State Patrol training area, so Jasper works with GSP there meaning maximum enforcement. Pickens County joins the fray south of Jasper to 372. This is a very stressful and unfair portion of highway. Keep it no more than 10 over and you will generally be okay, because the speed trap laws give some protection.

State Highway 53/574 near State Route 5/515 and 53

Patrolmen sit at intersection of 5/515 and 53 and pull you over for any reason they can like not using your turnsignal when changing lanes even if there is no other traffic in any direction. $$$$ pit. Had one tailgate me for two miles in the dark with his highbeams on, then give me a ticket for not signaling when he finally pulled me over. Very scary.

Interstate I-575 near Exit Number 14 through 16

Holly Springs sit under the bridges between Exit 14(Holly Springs) until the Exit 16(Sixes Road). They hide just under the bridges as you top the hill which most of the roadway at the bridges are on a hill/turn which prevent you from seeing them until it is too late.
