Snyder, Nebraska Speed Traps
Where state Hwy’s 91 and 79 pass through town
Two heavily travelled state highways—East-West Hwy 91 and north-south Hwy 79—pass about 5-6 blocks through an isolated small (300 pop.) rural town. Especially trucks and cars headed or coming from Fremont and Omaha. I am a lifetime resident of the area, and travel this route regularly when visiting Omaha, and especially in the evenings it is not at all unusual to find the town cop with someone pulled over to the side of the road. This is an EXTEREMELY notorious speed trap that is well known to local motorists and truckers. One night I was coming back from Omaha in an older car and the Snyder cop tailgated me for two miles down the highway! The common joke in this area is that the fines collected provide a major part of this town’s revenue.
