State Highway 17

Tignall, GeorgiaNov 09, 20090 Comments

Tignall Georgia (in Wilkes County, south of Elberton and north of Washington on Georgia Hwy 17) has very strict enforcement of speed limits from 45 mph at the city limit signs to 25 mph in a very small downtown. This is a very small ex-railroad / agriculture community, and speeding fine is a chief source of city revenue. Georgia State Route 17 is used as a cut-through from I85 at the South Carolina line to I20 in Thompson Georgia (just outside of Augusta). There is no indication that this police department pulls over for window tinting, loud music etc., as do the Arcade, Pendergrass and Winterville Georgia police departments. Just slow down and you will be fine.
