University Blvd in Alberta City

Tuscaloosa, AlabamaFeb 11, 20140 Comments

The speed limit on University Blvd through Alberta City area of Tuscaloosa is 35. TPD is somewhere along there most of the time, often just East of the viaduct where the speed limit changes abruptly from 45 to 35. Those same cops catch a lot of folks traveling West as well, because there’s a long straight stretch where it’s easy to get well above the speed limit.

Westbound I-20 at Mercedes Drive

Tuscaloosa, AlabamaFeb 21, 20110 Comments

AL State Troopers set up on the last overpass before passing the Mercedes Plant. They will have 1-2 up top with RADAR/LIDAR guns and no less than 8-10 on the shoulders pulling over car after car that the troopers on the overpass have radioed to them.

troopers in SUV with ready to use drug sniffing dogs. 5 over the limit you are busted. They love out-of-towners. They love to sit you in the front seat of their SUV so you can smell the dogs flatulations along with them, and sign papers for consent of search if you dont sign they violate your civil rights and flip your car upside down.seriously. Don’t speed through Alabama period..you will get nailed guaranteed.

I-20 West Right Before Exit 77 Sign

Tuscaloosa, AlabamaMar 25, 20101 Comments

After exit 78, there is a slight hill. The cop hides right on the other side of the hill just before the Exit 77 sign. Apparently this is still part of the construction zone, even though there is no construction whatsoever. Still, this is a 55mph zone, so they hit you with double charges.

I-20/59 Rest Stop East of Tuscaloosa

Usually one on east side and one trooper on west side writing tickets. It doesn’t matter that they have unsolved murders within 5 miles, they just write more tickets.
