It never fails… You’ll find this speedtrap active in the early morning (2AM-5AM) hours, particularly on weekends.
There is usually a Village of Auburn vehicle (usually marked, but the Village does have a couple unmarked vehicles, as well) parked in the driveway to the Roadhouse Bar’s parking lot. A lot of times, there will also be a Sangamon County or Illinois State Police vehicle, as well.
The speed limit drops from 55 to 45 just north of the village limits and if you’re going even 46, they will pull out after you. If you get it back under 45 right away, you might not get stopped (they’ll just stay on your tail all the way through town), but if you look like you’re freaking out over things, they’ll stop you. Whether or not you get a ticket all depends on which officer stops you, as there are a couple in particular that seem to have a zero tolerance policy.
