One mile south of Eagleville, and continuing 1 mile north

Eagleville, CaliforniaAug 26, 20130 Comments

Northern Burning Man Route, the highway from Gerlach, NV intersecting in Cedarville, CA with State Route 299. Eagleville is 15 miles south of Cedarville on Modoc Co Rd #!, AKA Surprise Valley Road.

The speed limit is reduced to 35 Mph about a mile south of Eagleville. After leaving Eagleville driving north toward Cedarville the speed limit is 35 mph for another mile and there are no speed limit signs.

Thank Garmin for a GPS that shows speed limits! The CHP waits south of Eagleville and follows you until you are beyond the 35 mph zone north of town. As you leave Eagleville it would appear you can resume speed as you are in a rural area, but if the CHP is still following you it is still 35 mph. This is a very rural area and Eagleville is a small town.

You would never expect to see a CHP in this area, but Modoc Co. has over 25 CHP officers and the county has a population of less than 10,000.
