heading west on lake-cook road at the "Angus" office building lot and at hastings drive. both wheeling and buffalo grove.

Lake Cook Road near Northgate Parkway   Buffalo Grove, Illinois

The police set up in the large office building on the north side of Lake Cook Road. They are are on the lookout for westbound traffic. The road is smooth as glass and three lanes wide and feel more like an Interstate then a surface street. Don't be fooled. The speed limit is 45 and that feels like crawling. But if you exceed it by too much you can expect to get caught. To make matters worse, the westbound traffic is coming down a slight down grade created by the overpass at Milwaukee Avenue. Morning rush seems to be the worst, but I've seen them most anytime of the day. My office is right there and they trap, write the ticket, then circle back right behind my office to the hiding spot. It's a real operation. I frequently "trip" over them while I try to get into my parking lot. Be careful. It's as regular and bad as I've ever seen.

Lake Cook Road   Buffalo Grove, Illinois

West bound traffic on Lake-Cook Road just east of Milwaukee (radar sits at Riverwalk Dr). Radar sets trap in unmarked vehicle with emergency flashers, while troopers sit on other side of overpass waiting to pull-over speeders. Speed limit is 45mph but most traffic drives 55+. Road is similar to freeway at this point and safe at 55.

Armstrong Drive near Lexington Drive   Buffalo Grove, Illinois

People trying to get around Lake Cook Traffic often come to the stop sign on the corner of Armstrong and Lexington. Cars are not allowed to go straight through the sign. Cars often go straight through and then speed straight down Armstrong - which is residential. Police sit there during morning and afternoon rush hours.

Milwaukee Avenue near Deerfield Parkway   Buffalo Grove, Illinois

Police stand in the middle of the street and wave cars to an empty lot where 8-10 police cars are waiting to write tickets. They also look for seat belt violations when the lights are red.
