ROUTE 30 & WESTERN
WESTBOUND US 30 REDLIGHT CAMERA. GOT TICKET IN MAIL. 2 PICTURES CLEARLY SHOW TRAFFIC SIGNAL WAS GREEN. NOT YELLOW BUT GREEN!!
02/03/ 2018
Joe Orr and Chicago Road
A new red light camera with very short yellow light. This is a newly installed red light camera and they shortened the yellow light, when it turns yellow you have no time to make it across and you get mailed a ticket. I got mine last week and the video clearly shows that the light was yellow after I went across the magic white line but quickly turned to red before I was 1/2 way through. If your ask for a hearing the fine goes from $100 to $125, it’s not worth fighting.
on RT. 30 approx.1/2 mile east of Ashland Ave.
Police park in an alleyway on the south side of Rt.30. Summertime you cant see them because of the bushes there.
Halsted St approx 1/2 mi South St James Hospital
Speed limit drops from 40 to 30, think higher speed is in So Chgo Hts and then drops abruptly and they’ll get you for 7 miles over limit, no leeway. The police had to be parked off road out of site. Was in no hurry and didn’t realize I was over limit. On return trip same route opposite direction, saw another party getting ticket.
Lincoln Hwy. and Chicago Road
The police sit off in the Chicago Heights Park District off Chicago Road and Lincoln Hwy. If you’re turning off Chicago Road traveling west on Lincoln Hwy.,the speed limit drops at least 10mph and by the time you realize the difference in the speed zone, the police are on you from nowhere. I had a rookie cop tell me his boss told him to get out there and write him some tickets, otherwise he would let me go. Lincoln Hwy., is a highway, you wouldn’t expect a road speed limit to exceed a highway speed limit. Of course the speed limit for Lincoln Hwy picks up, but that speed trap is strategically placed in an area where Chicago Heights make a lot of revenue off unsupected motorist.
