Cicero, Illinois Speed Traps
Cicero Avenue between Pershing Rd and 31st.
Going southbound on Cicero Avenue from 31st, Cicero cops cars, marked and unmarked, often hide in the entrance to Hawthorne Race Track, just after the train track underpass. They also hide in the Citgo gas station, parked along the south fence, just waiting for a car going over the limit.
Going northbound from Pershing Road, there are multiple business entrances in which they hide but the worst place is the median strip just beyond the train underpass. The cops park in the median strip facing south. They cannot be seen until the car driver starts to descend under the train tracks but by that time it is too late to slow down.
Laramie Avenue near Pershing Road
The police officers hide out in the old race track and let you zoom by. This is a 25 mph zone and it seems deserted most of the time so watch out.
2900 South Cicero Avenue near Home Depot/Sam’s Club
Between 26th Street and 31st Street, on the west side of Cicero Avenue, there is a row of businesses, including Home Depot and Sam’s Club. The outer Drive that runs along-side of McDonald’s and Auto Zone is monitored by Cicero police cars, marked and unmarked, for people not making complete stops at awkwardly located Stop signs. They hide anywhere along that Drive – tucked away behind the Sam’s Club gas station to blending in with the parked cars in the Home Depot parking lot. This goes on day and night.
S Cicero Avenue
Well, I for one am surprised that there is not a section for the town of Cicero, as it is easily the Top 5 worst suburbs for tickets in Illinois. Speed limits here are taken seriously. And police cars here are so random with their spots you never know where they will be. A simple warning to those who drive down S Cicero Ave in the town of Cicero. Keep it at 30mph or less. Cops here are ruthless. And worse, if you get pulled over for speeding and on top of that, you have tint windows oall around your car, they will even tow your car in the process. This happened to a buddy of mine and he had to pay nearly $800 for tickets and impound fees. So be very careful if your car is completely tinted cus Cicero cops won’t give a crap. They take speeding VERY seriously. And remember the windows.
