Downs, Illinois Speed Traps

Theres a local town cop thats always shooting radar in the morning between 7-9a. He gets people cutting through Downs, IL. to get in & out of Bloomington, IL. He’s in a marked car usually right off the street trying to blend in with other cars.

Same fat cop sits there all the time trying to pick off people using Downs to get to I-74. He is part time and he never does anything except revenue -er- radar duty.

Here’s a hint, one cop car only, so if you see it parked in front of village hall you’re good to go the rest of the way. Only seen the sheriff in town when they had 150 blocked for construction and the detour set up through the neighborhoods.

Coming off I-74 and driving North to hook back up with US 150, you pass through this small burg, after passing through the main drag, you start down a steep hill leading towards US Highway 150, the local law sits hidden behind some overgrowth, backed up into the cemetary, you always pick up speed going down this hill and hit speeds faster than the posted 30 very easily. This is a sure fire $100 driving award.
