North Ave-Harlem to Thatcher

Elmwood Park, IllinoisMar 25, 20101 Comments

Police car with radar will park anywhere along North Ave in the parking lane -usually at the front of multiple parked cars to blend in as a regular parked car. Watch out especially around 73rd Ave since traffic at Harlem Ave can go from 3 lanes to 2 lanes and cars caught in the outside lane have to merge with the center lane to continue going West. Again near 77th Ave is a favorite spot.

Thatcher Road near West Country Club Lane

Elmwood Park, IllinoisAug 24, 20070 Comments

Northbound on Thatcher Road (North of RT 64) just when approaching the "S" curve a radar car sits in the accessway to the Oak park Country Club clocking your speed. The speed limit is 25 miles an hour. Way lower than the safe traveling speed really is on the rest of the road. There is a forest preserve on one side and homes on the other, no schools, crosswalks or any good reason for the limit to be so low. Any normal safe driver can accidently let their speed climb up to 35 miles per hour which is the normal speed everywhere else on the same road except in the speedtrap area. The Village has been working this trap for many years.

Grand Avenue near Rail Road Tracks

Elmwood Park, IllinoisJun 12, 20070 Comments

There are two traps here, the officers will sit just past the tracks on the west bound side of grand across from the boating store. they will also sit concealed behind the coffee shop adjacent to the metra station.
Cameras have also been put into place for people whom are speeding through the light just before the tracks on the west bound side of grand. The cameras are a $100 a pop ticket and will get you if stop on the white line, blow through the red light or turn without stopping on the red.
My suggestion is slow down in my neighborhood. Out of towner’s get it the worse.

Harlem Avenue near Diversy Avenue

Elmwood Park, IllinoisMay 29, 20070 Comments

Going south down Harlem and making a right turn on Diversy there is a no turn on red sign. The other side of the street does not have this sign so beware. Late nights there is an officer who will nab you for turning right at that specific traffic light. Also be aware of all side street in Elmwood Park. Police park parallel and wait for you to go any speed over 20. They are known to give tickets to someone going even 5 miles faster than the posted speed.

Belmont Street near US Highway Harlem

Watch out for the cop in the blk & whit, she writes them all. If you’re a politician you’re in deep trouble, she don’t care she’ll write you too. She told me she has contact with the state police plane, so nowhere in Elmwood Park is safe.
