Elwood, Illinois Speed Traps

Currently, the bridge over Jackson Creek is out and being worked on, thus forcing much more traffic to go around on Bush Rd. to Noel Rd. to reconnect with Rt. 53. This is a rural road with subdivision nearby and is marked 30 mph. Mostly State and County Police, with an occasional Elwood patrol (Noel Rd. is the borderline between towns). Typically, the squad sits on Bridge Rd. and can catch you going either east or west. In warmer months, an officer on a bike hides easily.

Be careful on Arsenal Rd just east of the Mobil refininery. There are several driveways going into the arsenal property that are just low enough to hide a cop. They are also just over the Arsenal Rd bridge that crosses the RR tracks. Be very careful, this is state, will county and Elwood patroling, they have laser, got several real K alerts. P.S. the speeding ticket on arsenal during constructioin is $375

Mostly waiting for semi trucks crossing a bridge over Jackson Creek that has a low weight limit (marked ahead of time, both ways). Watch for Elwood, Illinois State, and Will County police in this area. Speed limit is 45 mph and I suggest you pay attention to it.

Highly Patrolled Area. DO NOT have anything hanging from your mirror since that results in an "Obstructed Vision" Charge. Town impounds vehicles from travelers without insurance, DL, etc. Exelon ID on laynard resulted in my being pulled over and searched after I gave consent. I-55 is under construction so traffic has picked up and Officer stated the township was strictly enforcing regulations and had ordinances which could result in impound if I did not have DL or Insurance proof. STAY BELOW THE LIMIT HERE!

A section of highway rt. 53 approximatly 5 miles south of Joliet going through the town of Elwood. This section of roadway is contantly patrolled and stops being made for speed violators of the 55 m.p.h. limit. Tickets are issued for even minor speeds that are above the limit.
