Forest City, Illinois Speed Traps

Be sure to watch your speed along Manito Road; this area is patrolled often.

Officers are known to sit on the northeast side of town at the bottom of the hill in an empty lot. They radar incoming traffic over the hill and traffic coming in from the west. The speed limit is 30 mph. Officers are also known to sit near the vacant school building on the west side of town. The speed limit drops from 55mph to 30 mph with little warning, and continues through the town.

When driving into Forest City from Manito going over hill – police sits in gravel lot off to the left right next to the pond.

When driving thru FC on your way to Manito, it would be past elevators and right when you think you are safe to speed up…DON’T! They sit in this lot off to the right. Will get you for ONE over! DEATH TRAP! Ridiculous.

Two lane thru the Village. Driving westward entering is a hill that obscures the residential area until cleared. Several side streets. A thickly populated residential area.Drivers should be careful of cross traffic and pedestrians. Well posted at 30 M.P.H.
