1/4 East of Behm Lane on Peterson Rd

Grayslake, IllinoisApr 08, 20220 Comments

Lake County Sheriff cars sit where Peterson goes from 4 lanes to 2 lanes right below a hill and shoot radar at cars going West bound. This road speed limit is set abnormally low at 45 mph but it is a 4 lane wide road in the country with a median that separates traffic. The maximum speed limit should be 65 mph although the maximum statutory speed limit is 55 mph. Lake County can however under a special statute that exempts this specific county, set a higher speed limit if a traffic study supports it.

Route 120 through Wildwood (east of Route 45)

State Police like to sit in the parking lot of the little church at night, or sometimes right in the median near Old Mill Rd, where you can’t see them until you’ve crested the hill. They may hide along the shoulder at night as well. I’ve seen many people pulled over, mostly eastbound, especially at night.

Police wait with hand held speed guns for motorists trying to make the trains, particularly in the am…either in the parking lots of apartments at the top of the hill behind dumpsters, or behind bushes at the intersection of Lake and the cross street leading into the train station.
