State Route st rt 49

Homer, IllinoisApr 19, 20081 Comments

Officer sits just inside village limits on all 4 main avenues in and out of town in all 4 directions just where speed limits drop from 55 to 35 in a matter of less than 500 feet. He hides in the cemetery on the east side, behind the electrical substation on the west side, the fire station or Caseys on the north and the abandonded vet clinic on the south in a black unmarked Chevy Blazer. He has a reputation for clocking vehicles in the highway zone coming into the village and putting on the ticket he clocked them in the village speed zone. He is also known to have a zero tolerance for issuing warnings. I received a ticket for 49 in a 35, took it to court and beat it due to him being to close to speed limit signs when the speed zones change. He cannot sit utilizing radar within 500 ft of speed limit signs where the speed zones change, according to the judge.

Parker Road near Dodde Street

This section of road is at Parker/Dodde (Believe that is spelled right). If you know the area its a "S" section of Parker Road between 167th and Chicago/Bloomington Road. The officers (doing their job) sit anywhere they want b/c they have fine support form the families who live on Parker. I sat on my porch and watched them ticket 20 people in an hours time. So, I am warning you now…no speeding…no ticket. Simple as that. Just one Homerian’s point of view.

Homer/Sidney Road near Homer/Sidney Road

Homer, IllinoisApr 12, 20060 Comments

On the West side of Homer when approaching from Sidney the speed limit changes from 55 to 30 about a 1/2 mile West of town. The local police hide in the school parking lot and give lots of tickets. I personally know 10 people that have received tickets in the speed trap. There has even been letters to editor in the local papers referencing this unfair practice by the Homer police.

Rt 49

The speed limit in town is 30 MPH, the Officer is parked in the Fire station parking lot across the street from the gas station on the very edge of town just as you are leaving town, you can see the 55 MPH speed sign as you are coming up to the Fire Department. The officer is using his radar on vehicals that are starting to speed up and are increeing speed for the 55 MPH change. He is parked right by the sign.
