State Highway 67 near WIU Golf Course
As you come down the hill on Hwy 67 into Macomb, IL the speed drops suddenly from 65 to 50 mph. A patrol car commonly sits just over the hill where you can’t see him until you are already in the lower speed zone. Watch out at 8 am, noon, 5 pm and especially when school is coming back from a break or vacation.
US Highway 136/67 near Mac. Toyota Dealer
On the US 136 and US 67, east side of City of Macomb, near the Wal Mart, Farmer King, and Mac. Toyota Dealer; there usually has speeding enforcement. It’s entrance of City and exit as well.
Hwy. 67 Northbound, Hwy 136 Eastbound and anywhere near Western Illinois University
Macomb and MacDonough County are the home of a large state police station, an overly large and thirsty university police department and a large city department system. Young cops are frequently sent to the state dept. station to "practice" on the innocent. Stops can be based on utterly ludicrous speeding violations (1 or 2 miles over the limit) I have received both a 34 in a 30mph zone and a 33 in a 25mph zone (the latter after midnight on a deserted road). Watch out!!!
