Niles, Illinois Speed Traps

From 294 east until the light at the office depot entrance just east of golf mill, Niles, Cook County, and State police are constantly on patrol. This stretch of Golf road has many turn-ins and has a high accident rate. Limit is 35 and 45 or more is usually a citation. The worst spot is when headed east after going under 294. There used to be a speed limit 35 sign right after 294, but it was removed and they assume that everyone knows that it is 35 instead of 45. The first 35 sign is now after the light at Potter Road. If you tell them that you thought the limit was 45, they point to the 35 sign facing westbound traffic just west of Potter. When the pavement changes from asphalt to concrete, the limit officially becomes 35. They need to do something about all of the stupid drivers who don’t know where there going who cause accidents instead of speeders all the time.

The Village Crossing Shopping Center is alawys a huge hotbed of police activity, atleast 2+ Units alawys seem to be on patrol looking for people.

The marked police car is usually parked in the furthest spot he can possibly get at the back of the 5/3 Bank parking lot. Traffic traveling westbound on Oakton is particularly vulnerable because you can’t see him until he is already behind you.

The officers are in a commercial parking lot blending in with parked vehicles on the south side of howard srteet west of Caldwell. Directly across from Tam Golf Course.

East and west bound from Lehigh to the bridge: radar sits throughout the day as it is 30mph yet often light traffic and forest area so it is tempting to push it-then you get to meet Niles’Finest!
