Apparently about a half mile section of this thru street along a boundary between Orland Park and Palos Park comes under the jurisdiction of Cook County. Overnight the speed limit dropped to 30mph and Cook County Sheriff patrol cars were there issuing citations. You are fortunate to get behind a local who crawls along otherwise you would feel perfectly safe doing 40-45mph.
95th Street next to Maple Lake
Cook County Sheriff sits in parking lot next to Maple Lake in the Forest Preserve adjacent to 95th Street with LIDAR pointing at westbound cars coming off a blind curve at the top of the hill. The speed drops from 45 to 30 before the curve, and by the time the unsuspecting motorist can see the squad car, it’s already too late and the Cook County Sheriff patiently waits until you reach the lot then promptly pulls you over. $147.00 fine plus supervision and traffic school.
