Cherry Valley, Arkansas Speed Traps

This has been known as a speed trap town for years. I had slowed to the stated speed limit of 45 entering the town, as leaving had 55 mph speed limit sign in sight when I started to climb and reached 48 and then saw blue lights. When the officer approached he informed me that I was doing 58. Said he was going to check my record and then he would tell me how we were going to handle this…. A city ordinance ticket for inattentive driving. He didn’t know how much it would be, you could image my surprise when I call and found out $200… Watch everywhere and hope you make it. Yes the catch phrase here is “you’ll pay the ticket and there will be no record of it…” Imagine that.

Local Police will be out at all times of the day and night and will be located in on the only highway (HWY1) that goes through their town. I feel that the speed I was doing was far less than the 13 over I was told I was doing. At that point I was told that I would be given a City Ordinance Ticket that would not go on my record and once paid would be NO record of… Go figure!

They target out of town drivers, instead of a speeding ticket they will ticket you for inattentive driving. I was going 2 MPH over the 35mph speed limit and got a $115 ticket.

When you see the speed limit coming into Cherry Valley in any direction you had better obey. The police patrole this area like hawks. Very seldom have I ever been through there that they don’t have someone stopped…
