Pretty much anywhere within the Cotter, AR city limits, there will be a cop radaring along this small stretch of highway. There is one cop in particular, don’t know his actual name, but it is his NORMAL M/O to stop people, and hold them on stops for anywhere from 30 minutes to over hour. He has absolutely no disregard for the public. He is constantly overstepping his powers.

The new police chief has told our mayor he will pay for his salary with the amount of speeding tickets he writes. He gave the ex-assistant police chief 3 ticket books and told him he would be needing them. He is stopping anybody going 5 mph over the speed limit. His first week he even pulled over an Arkansas State Trooper.

In a 5 mile section on a 4 lane highway with a 5th lane for turning the speed limit changes several times 45mph, up to55 then down to 50, then 45 then back to to 55. Either the Cotter or Gassvile police dept usually has a car setting where they can monitor speeds. I live in the area and have not received a ticket but I have a police scanner and they keep real busy.

Traveling west in the heart of town there’s a long hill and speed limit is 35. Without accelerating one’s speed increases. City "chief" sits at the bottom of the hill (with radar – not sure which type) at the White River overlook, where the highway curves leFort

This is at a school zone (25 mph) but it’s very deceiving. The school sits back off the main highway and is actually located along three side streets. School property is about 200 feet off of US-62B and on the other side of an intersection (the school itself is about 500 feet from US-62B; but they will stop you on US-62B. The sign says 25mph when children are present and except during recess, there’s not a child to be seen. Be careful because when traveling west, you can’t even SEE a school or anything that even looks like a school (due to trees), and when you DO get to see the school, you have to look over your right shoulder.
