Hwy 26 on west side of town

Guernsey, WyomingJun 02, 20161 Comments

Apparently designed to trap out-of-state travelers. The highway slopes rather quickly as one approaches the town at normal highway speeds. Near the bottom of the hill is a sign that says 30 mph ahead and very shortly after is the sign that says 30 mph speed limit. It takes some braking power to slow from highway speed to town speed limits. Apparently, the town targets out of state travelers because the pickup truck in front of me was definitely driving faster than I and he was not stopped by the policeman. Other towns on the same Highway 26 route headed east have similar speed traps, but most of the other towns are on level ground. The policeman said I was going 44 mph in a 30 mile zone and maybe he was right but in nearly 79 years this is only the second time I have ever gotten a speeding ticket. I think I will avoid the entire state of Wyoming if for some reason I choose to travel in that part of the USA at some later time.
