Southview Drive between Lamont and Westerfield Way

Lexington, KentuckyMay 07, 20210 Comments

This section of Southview is rather wide and straight with no curb and gutter. The speed limit is only 25 mph but very easy to go much faster than that, especially with very few cars parked alongside the road. The police officer will be in an unmarked late model white Ford Taurus. They will park in the southbound direction, usually in front of another vehicle and shoot a Ka band radar at vehicles traveling in the northbound direction. There is a curve prior to Westerfield and, once you pass the curve the officer has a clear shot at your vehicle from several hundred feet away. Before you know it, blue lights are in your rear view mirror. The trap is usually in the week day mid afternoon hours.

Versailles Road/ Old Versailles Road (Beside the airport)

Police sit at the entrance to Old Versailles Road, just before the airport on the right if you are traveling INTO Lexington on Versailles Road. They will sit at night and early morning without operating lights to ensure motorist cannot see the cruiser until it is too late. ( Also rather dangerous)

I received a ticket today as the Lexington Officer sat in the dark, with no lights on, in a heavy rain storm, around a turn waiting for motorist. So, be safe out there, because they will not be.

Often unmarked Lexington Fayette Metro Police will park (both sides of road) and run K and KA band radar. Residential neighborhood, heavily traveled.

Lyon Drive, Lexington, KY

Some residents park in front of condo instead behind them. The cop sits close the mail box stand on the street and blends in with other parked cars. By the time you see him he has gotten you.
