Napoleonville Village Cops will hide among buildings along La. 1 with their only patrol car using K and Ka band radar. There is a sudden change in speed limit, 55 – 45 – 30, within a quarter mile. Motorists are tempted to drive 40 mph late night and early morning. There is only one traffic signal in the entire town. I live there and was ticketed for doing 40 in a 30. The cop was actually in the 45 mph zone during the trap. I had to go to court to take care of this. THIS IS A MAJOR REVENUE GENERATOR FOR THE VILLAGE !

Long stretch of Highway with plenty of places for Patrol Cars to hide. Speed traps setup after 9AM, and last until about 12PM.

Speed limit is 50 miles per hour from the intersection of LA 1 with LA 70. In Napoleonville, the speed limit drops to 40 then 30 then back up to 50. The speed limit signs are not clearly visible from the road at night, but the Sheriff’s Dept. patrols this speed zone very closely. Drivers are ticketed especially at night when there is no traffic on the road. The change in speed limit seems very unnecessary since there is very, very little traffic in the area. The only apparent reason for the change in speed limit in this area is to generate revenue for this tiny town by issuing speeding tickets those traveling through.

Limit drops from 50 MPH to 30 MPH in less than 1/8 of a mile. Policeman waiting across street directly after the 30 MPH sign.
