Concord Ave. on Belmont/Lexington Line. Cop sits at entrance of the waste management site, right after the golf course ends. Speed limit 40…most go 50+

Grove Street near Belmont Cemetery

Belmont, MassachusettsFeb 22, 20070 Comments

Cop likes to sit in the side entrance of the cemetery, pointing onto Grove St with his lights off (sometimes his running lights are on). Shouldn’t exceed 35 mph around here, though the limit is probably 30 mph.

If he’s not in the cemetery, he’ll be behind a parked car on the street across from the cemetery.

Th police hide in the parking lot of the Exxon on the corner of Concord Avenue and Brighton Street. They try and catch people traveling towards Freshpond. There is also a cop usually hiding in the drive-thru area of Sterling Cleaners.

Town police cruiser parked at side of road frequently partially hidden behind a parked car, either eastbound or westbound. Speed limit 30. It is a divided road, and the temptation is to exceed 30 mph. Don’t. Older model radar in use thru front or rear window of cruiser.

Belmont Street near School Street

Belmont, MassachusettsSep 29, 20040 Comments

Strict speed enforcement on Belmont St. between Trapelo Rd. and the Cambridge line. Posted 30mph speed is unrealistic given the width of the road and usual traffic conditions–estimated 85th percentile speed would probably be 35 or 40mph. Town police are out with K-band radar. Enforcement is especially intensive in the eastbound direction during AM rush hour.
