Rt. 40 @ Heritage Lane / Whitney Pond well gate

Groton, MassachusettsJan 24, 20130 Comments

Infrequent, but they use steady or triggered K-band radar, often at night. Easy to get tagged as the cruiser is parked parallel to the road but off to the side in the well’s gate driveway, partially concealed as you approach driving eastbound.

Cow Pond Rd.

Groton, MassachusettsJan 24, 20130 Comments

In summer when many children are playing on the sports field or town dump, officers often run K-band radar as parents come & go to the fields. Speed limit is 25 but a normal/safe speed is more like 35-40.

Radar site is past the first set of houses, down within the tree-lined portion of the road, and also in a small dirt pull-off just as you approach the fields & transfer station region of the road.

Rt. 40 @ Painted Post Rd.

Groton, MassachusettsJan 24, 20130 Comments

Cruisers run steady or triggered K-Band radar parked just off the shoulder of Rt. 40, often at night. Speed limit is 30/35 but much traffic flows at 40-45 especially during commuting hours.

Rt. 119 @ Sunset Rd.

Groton, MassachusettsJan 24, 20130 Comments

Cruisers park parallel to Rt. 119 in the entrance to Sunset Rd, hidden from oncoming traffic and at the bottom of a small hill where drivers pick up a bit of speed naturally. Limit is 35 but traffic often flows at 40+, especially during commuting hours.

Radar at this location is often at night using triggered K-Band. You basically cannot see the cruiser if you’re inbound towards Groton center (North/West).

Chicopee Row Road near Groton Dunstable Regional High School

Groton, MassachusettsApr 13, 20060 Comments

This stretch of country road can be safely driven at 45-50 mph, but it is posted at 30 and 35 mph. The police officer that pulled me over said to me "This is Groton, you do realize that this is all we have to do?" Groton sits on 2 state highways that are commute routes to Boston from the MA/NH border towns and there are plenty of speedtraps in this town aside from the one that I was pulled over on.
