Along Route 90, within the school zone area

Rockport, MaineMay 11, 20160 Comments

The short school-zone section of Route 90 near the school has a set of four large amber flashing-light signal-units that the police falsely claim are flashing for a lower speed limit, even during non-school hours and so the lights are NOT flashing. The lights flash randomly during non-school hours, as well, so there is apparently either something wrong with the lights’ electrical circuitry or the lights are illegally rigged to flash by remote control to invalidly trap “speeders”.

Rockport expends none of it’s police budget on criminal matters, leaving that to Knox Co. Sheriff’s Dept. Consequently, ALL of it’s focus is on traffic enforcement, especially in tourist season. The most stringent enforcement is on nights and weekends, as they are looking for OUI arrests. Obey all speed limits, particularly on Rt. 1 between Rockland and Camden. The limit changes in several places; the 35 mph change at the town limits both north and south bound are the ones to watch.

Roving

Rockport, MaineJun 15, 20100 Comments

Be very careful! Rockport has a shiny white Ford Explorer SUV that is almost totally stealth. He is usually mobile rather than waiting on the roadside and has instant on Ka, so he’s hard to pick up on a detector. The vehicle also has civilian plates. The only way to spot him is a blackout grille (full of blue lights) and a whip antenna at the middle of the rear edge of the roof.
