Topsham, Maine Speed Traps

Be careful in the mornings as you transit Elm St. There is an "unmarked" Silver Crown Victoria that sits there blending in with parked cars. The speed limit is 25 – very easy to go 35 or more if you are running late.

From 9pm on, look for Topsham police parked in the Volvo dealership with lights off. Also parked in church parking lot on Main St. and again at the base of the green bridge on occasion.

Multiple speed traps. Be on the look out for maroon and/or silver Crown Victoria’s (Disguised and badged as a Grand Marquis with spoiler). Unmarked navy blue and black 07 Impala’s. Black 2008 Dodge Charger (Disguised as the R/T model with spoiler). Southern Maine features blue and/or silver Mustang GT’s

Officers sit in a driveway at the corner of Route 201 and Meadow Road. Coming from Bowdoin traveling down Rt 201 towards downtown Topsham. There is a long stretch starting just before Roller World and before you hit Tospham Glass. The cops are usually positioned facing the way to Bowdoin so commuters coming into the downtown area can frequently creep above the limit without even realizing it and he’s got ya as soon as you are within site. Just be vigilant and you’ll be fine.

Traveling west on 196 away from the Topsham Fair Mall toward Lisbon, police hide in plain sight in the medium of 196. Just as you crest the overpass going over Rt. 295, they gotcha. Alternate "hiding" place is to the right just before the speed limit increases to 40 mph.
