Route 202 bottom of hill near end of Annabessacook lake

Winthrop, MaineJul 18, 20130 Comments

The local cops/troopers will sit on either side of the road (out of sight in either spot until it’s too late) after it turns to 45 as soon as you enter Winthrop (if you’re coming from Augusta) at the bottom of the large downhill past the Grade School road (where the football field is). Easy to accidentally be going 10 over by the time you hit the bottom of the hill.

Especially coming down the hill toward Winthrop Center. Speed drops to 35 mph and long downhill tends to make you travel faster.

Every weekday morning 7:15-approx 8 AM. The speed limit there is 15 because kids are walking to school. Slow down for our kids!

State Route 202 near top of hill where you turn to go into the Village

Local officers will sit on top of hill either side with radar. Speed changes abruptly from 55 to 45 at top of hill right where they sit.
