Allegan, Michigan Speed Traps

The steep hill on Hooker Rd is 25 MPH. Police are sitting in a private drive hidden by pine trees at the top of the hill.

Police sit on entrance ramps to US131 in both directions. Plus SB US131 towards Otsego.

I was unfamiliar with the area. Pulled onto Marshall Rd. Did not see speed sign and proceeded with flow of traffic. Cop passed by me and another was sitting to the side. Other cars went faster. I remained at 45 mph. 4 lanes went down to two lanes and cop pulled me over before I got to my first speed limit sign which was 45mph. That was towards Lincoln Rd. Pulled over and received ticket for doing 45 in a 35. This was just before Labor Day Weekend. Cops were everywhere. Tried to fight it … still had to pay. Not A Nice welcome to the area.

This is an approximately 10-mile stretch between US-131 and Allegan. Police will give tickets for 60-mph and over. In night conditions, police enforce 55 mph strongly; however, beware of the occasional speeding cruiser after dark.
