11 MILE ROAD

Huntington Woods, MichiganJul 02, 20150 Comments

11 Mile bordering Huntington Woods and Berkley is a 4-lane road, yet the speed limit is only 30 mph. Huntington Woods, a speed trap community, operates a speed trap here and is constantly trolling and writing tickets.

Scotia between Ludlow & 696.

This is essentially Michigan’s version of Hampton, Florida. This is more of a subdivision than a city, it less than a square mile. Primarily the speed traps are set up all down 11 mile from Woodward to Coolidge and on College south to I-696. One inside the near gated community you are usually in the clear. The drop offs are realively minor, 40 or 35 to 30, but this is the only place I know of that has ever pulled me over for going 32 in a 30, twice. I has been away from the area for 8 years in my defense. Cops are on a strict money grab, the last guy, after pulling a U-turn and racing through traffic at at least 60mph to catch up to me, did me a favor by charging me with “Impeding Traffic”. No points, but over twice the fine. Funny this is, the way he was parked, HE was impeding traffic, and HE was driving fast enough to endanger the public.

The speed limit on 11 mile drops from 35 to 30 when you’re entering/leaving Huntington Woods. I drive this daily and there is ALWAYS a police car in an empty parking lot or just driving slowly down the road. Always on the Huntington Woods (south) side of the road. People are pulled over here daily.

Huntington Woods police sit along side streets, close to 11 Mile to nab you as you travel east or west. Huntington Woods has a posted speed of only 30 miles per hour on this stretch of 11 Mile, whereas Berkely posts 35 mph just across Coolidge Road. Be careful!
