Ishpeming, Michigan Speed Traps

The police car will sit behind the sign on the right heading towards Jubilee (Ishpeming) across from the car pool parking. Coming from Ishpeming towards West Ishpeming the huge hill blocks this way. One cannot see them sitting there until you are on top of them, and it is a straight stretch, with 5 lane traffic.

From National Mine to Old M-28 the speed limit is 25mph where it should be 35. It is a trucking route and sparsely populated and has only a couple signs…one each direction in the space of a few miles. It is ridiculous to drive through that area at 25 so people have the natural tendency to go faster….and a ten over ticket is easily the case. Police have a couple hiding spots but can nail a speeder while cruising. That seems to be the common way.

From Seventh St. east to Ready St. the speed limit should increase from 25 mph to 35 but doesn’t and it should also increase from 35 mph to 45 well before it does….and it is even more of a problem for west bound traffic. The police have a few hiding spots along the way and the signs are minimal…so drivers can easily be caught unaware of the ridiculously low limit in an area that would normally have a much higher one. Thirty five MPH is a ten over ticket.
